here's some pics from day 1 of surfing. we were in the bass strait, which apparently is notoriously one of the roughest seas due to huge waves and limited depth.

Phillip Island

This weekend, Courtney, Judy, Lucy and I ventured off to Phillip Island. We left on Saturday morning and got there around noon. We stayed at Lucy's friends house with about 8 other people and had a blast! We dropped our stuff off right away and decided to go SURFING! Courtney sat out the first day, she wasn't feeling it. It is, in fact, the middle of winter and not the best of conditions to get out there for a surf. Mind you, winter here means anywhere from 40 to 65 degrees. On this particular day, it was cloudy and around 45. We rented boards and wet suits and hit the beach. Court came on camera duty! We got a mini lesson...the basics, from one of our friends and then hurled our bodies into the waves. And boyyy was it cold. But ony for a second. Once you're used to it, you don't feel a thing. Wet suits are amazing like that, plus our adrenaline was going insane. I got up a few times and it was just beyond fun! Judy and I were just loving every second of life. After surfing, we went back to the house, had some drinks and dinner and relaxed. Around 7, we went to the pub in the little downtown area and stayed there until about 11. We came back home, laughed, danced, played some more before we hit the beds around 3. We arose promptly at 9 am as we were psyched to go for another surf. This time Court joined us. It was just as much fun as the first time and Judy rode her last wave in all the way to shore! The weather was a little rougher, but that didn't bother us. We grabbed some lunch after and made our way home. We stopped at the wildlife centre and fed the kangaroos, casawarries, wallabees, emus, etc! It was soooo neat to go up to the kangaroos. One of them had a little joey in her pouch. SO CUTE! After that, we stopped at a little general store for some milkshakes. Mine was kind of thin and I needlessly asked Court if I could have hers, to which she replied, "No way. I ordered mine thick and paid extra for it." Promptly, she dropped her shake all over the floor! HAHAHHA! The lady behind the counter picked it up, wiped the cup and handed it back to her without making her a new one. Jude and I could not stop laughing. It was hysterical. From there, we drove home pretty quietly as we were all a bit exhausted. Basically, I can scratch "learn to surf" off of my life list, but there's no way i'm not going to do it again. Judy and I said over and over how much we could live a surfer life. here's what we've been up to!

hello! blair and i are currently at the library internet-ing and such. we're going to see the proposal tonight. should be funny. today, there were workers outside of the apt and somehow they hit our water pipes or something, so we didn't have h2o all day! it was highly annoying as we couldn't shower, brush our teeth or go to the bathroom! so we made do by going for a run, out to lunch, and then did an impromptu photoshoot of ourselves being incredibly grungy. i'll post a bunch of pictures later. of course i tried to do it here with no success. it should work fine back to our apt. it's the video that's the most distressing. anyway, i'm out of a job as of friday because my casual work with salesforce is done. however, they have lots of options for us, so i can hopefully just pick another campaign, and hop right on board for another 4-6 weeks. gotta pay rent somehow! our lease is up at the end of july so court and i are looking for another/cheaper place. we love love our location and everything about where we live, but we need to be able to save money. anyway, there are great areas everywhere! well people of the world, i'm off. and i shall leave you with some words of wisdom...

ohhh and courtney and i saw Avenue Q last week! it was hilarious. dirty talking puppets! really good. we went for free because my work was giving them away. nice perk for sure!

hey everyone! sorry it's been a while. our cousin Blair just arrived yesterday and we're soo excited to have a familiar face! she's here til the 2nd...our other friend judy comes on the 26th and our other friend kate comes on the 11th of july! we're jam packed and we love it! ok, i'll post some pics and such a bit later. stay cool!

*i still have been trying to get up that video but i think it's a lost cause. i'll do some trial and error and see if it'll upload another video or something. maybe it's the file type? no idea.

ok, this is my twilight/vampire inspired creation. haha really i was just bored one day and thought i'd give a go at making myself look a little vampirey. it came out as if i was molded or something. and i look really...icey! aww well, ya get what ya get.

all is well here. our cousin Blair is visiting next week! then our friend Katie comes, followed by our other friend Judy! We have a month and a half of visitors! should be a blast.
