hi everyone! sorry it's been a while. i've been really busy working. i work at helly hansen. it's a store that sells ski and sailing apparel. great stuff and i get an awesome discount! courtney has an interview tomorrow at a restaurant that i'm sure she'll get. she's overqualified for any of these places which is good on her end. it's getting realllllly warm here. summers are intense. our friend sabina left for europe today, so we're a little bummed. she was our first and best friend in au! but hopefully she's coming to the u.s. next year. cross your fingers! my birthday's on sunday. i have to work! but only til 6, so i think we're going to just grab dinner and drinks afterwards. nothing fancy. just low key, which is my style. i'm beat. i had such a long day, so i'm going to turn in. here's some snapshots! goodnight.

life at the rock!

ok, so as you know, court and i live at the rock...hostel/share house/awesome. at first, yea, i had to get used to it. but now...i love it! first off, it's clean now, primarily because i think everyone just got sick of living in a dump. but really, the main thing is, and the reason why everyone stays, is the people. we love everyone here. how cool that our friends are from denmark, finland, scotland, ireland, france, spain...and the list just goes on. we all have one connection...we're travelers. and we're all able to relate to one another so quickly because of that fact. it's great. when you throw yourself into a house of 30 people, you have no other choice but to live it up. and everyone knows everyone, so you can't beat it. anyway...here's a few shots of some good times thus far!

back in the cbd...

well, i'm back in the city. i'm living with courtney in the share house. it's definitely interesting. seriously...when you get 30 people, all from different countries, in one house...nothing's boring. it's cheap and dirty honestly. not my favorite way to live, but i don't hate it. i have 4 roommates and a big balcony which is nice. as long as i keep my stuff clean and neat, i'm all good. i'm really only here for sleeping. our really good friends live right down the street, so we go there a lot. 2 months won't kill me! just gotta make some bucks before we travel. court and i booked our tickets today. so plans are official. we're doing our east coast trip for the month of january. then january 25th, we go to thailand and we're staying there for about 2 1/2 months. we'll travel about and it's super cheap, which is great. on april 16th, we fly to rome to meet our family then fly back to the states on april 28th! and that's that...until we think of new travel plans of course. ok, i'm pretty tired. goodnight!

BUT we do have a ride today and that should be lots of fun!!!!

Inspired these days...

Hi Everyone! It's Courtney reporting from Melbourne, not the farm! Everything here is pretty much the same. Just working and hanging out with mates (use some aussie lingo). My job is up in a little less then a month so I am on the job hunt again! I don't think it will be that hard to find a job, probably just back to hospitality! I think Cait mentioned that I moved into a hostel right near work which has been working out pretty well! At first I was a little skeptical but now that we have cleaned up our room, put everything away, vaccumed etc....I feel much more comfortable! My roommate Marye is a super sweet girl from London who is just traveling around with one of her friends! I also have a few friends who live about a block away so I have been going over there for dinner a lot and just hanging around with them which has been really nice! It's nice to just walk to a friends house, chill for a little while and walk home, haven't done that in ages!
We have also been going to this place called Lentil As Anything. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner and it is all FREE...really it is! Now you should drop some money into the donation box but I guess you don't have too if you don't want to...but you should! Lentil as Anything is a unique vegetarian restaurant that is run as a not-for-profit community organisation. It is largely staffed by volunteers. There philosphy is "the customer decides what they want to pay for the food and drinks they've had. They decide what it's worth and donate anonymously into the box on the counter." Each day it's a different type of food, Monday it might be African, Tuesday Sri Lanken Wednesday...who knows, but it is always delicious! I was thinking about volunteering but the training times are during my working time and I can't afford to take off work...maybe when I have a different job I will have time!!! I just think it is such a great concept! Imagine if every place did this type of thing! lentilasanything.com
So lately I have been feeling very inspired to travel, do an ESL program, go to random countries help less fortunate people! I have met all these wonderful people who have been traveling for years and love it! I came across this website called stumbleupon.com and they have so many tips on traveling, volunteering, things you need to do before you die and it just really makes me want to get out there and do it all...and thats exactly what I am going to do!!!!
Ok I am done now! Sorry for the grammatical errors and the rambeling I am doing this at work....sshhhhhhhh! Don't tell anyone!
